AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

With over 70 years aerial photography experience in a diverse range of environments throughout New Zealand and Australia, the Pacific Islands, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Antarctica, NZAM is the most experienced aerial survey company operating in Australasia and are utilising the advanced technology of large format digital cameras.

NZAM's aerial photography capability includes:
  • flight planning
  • vertical stereo aerial photography
  • oblique aerial photography
  • specialised aerial survey cameras including forward motion compensation
  • computer controlled navigation and camera station recording systems
  • differential global positioning systems (DGPS)
  • airborne DGPS post-processing
  • dedicated aerial photographic laboratory for film processing and printing
  • precision photogrammetric film scanners
NZAM operates five aircraft specially modified for aerial photography. Among these is the Rockwell Commander 690, a pressurised aircraft capable of sustained aerial survey missions at up to 32,000 feet. The aircraft carry NZAM's Zeiss and Leica survey cameras with lenses ranging from 88mm (3.5 inch ) to 615mm (24 inch) and Microsoft Vexcel UCD and UCX digital cameras.

The Leica RC30, with 152mm (6 inch) and 305mm (12 inch) lenses, is widely recognised as the industry leader in aerial cameras. It features Forward Motion Compensation (FMC) to eliminate image deformation when taking photographs at low altitude.

NZAM uses the Trackair aerial photography system with GPS navigation to precisely position aerial photography, and DGPS photo centre recording means fewer ground control points are required for larger mapping projects.

NZAM also maintains a Photo Library of recent and historic photography. NZAM provides film scanning services to organisations needing precision photogrammetric scanning of aerial film.
