URBAN ORTHOPHOTOGRAPHY
Territorial authorities are responsible for maintaining and developing the infrastructure necessary for the community to function. Many of these authorities employ NZAM to provide regular sets of orthophoto tiles covering the urban expanse.
Councils have found these tiles to be an invaluable resource, within and beyond the engineering office. This has been particularly so since the advent of intranet mapping applications. Rate payer help desk staff have been able to respond in a more proactive manner as a result of being able to put queries into a geographical context.
As the urban expanse is a continuous process, selected areas where change has occurred are re-flown to keep the Council's GIS up to date.
