NZAM PURCHASES SECOND DIGITAL CAMERA
dot
NZAM has had two very successful seasons operating New Zealand's first large format digital cameras, the more recent addition being Microsoft Vexcel's 216 megapixel UltraCamX

Vexcel's revolutionary UltraCamX digital aerial camera system delivers large format aerial imagery that is radiometrically and geometrically superior to images captured by conventional film cameras but with significant cost savings on each image. The UltraCam features imagery with a better than 12-bit per pixel dynamic range, compared to film cameras scanned at 8-bits per pixel.

The camera system captures simultaneous colour, black & white and false colour infra red images with its 14,430 x 9,420 pixel CCD array. Some advantages include;
- forward motion compensation (FMC) to remove image blurring caused by the speed of the aircraft,
- radiometric superiority allowing better matching accuracy, better interpretability, better stereo and more success in automated procedures.
- noise-free, high radiometry digital image pairs produce superior stereoscopic clarity and matching accuracy 2.5 times better than from typical scanned film.

Sizeable projects confirmed throughout Asia and the Middle East provided NZAM the opportunity to make the investment only months after acceptance of Optech's ALTM3100C-EA LiDAR scanner.
